Recycling

Recycling is required in each jurisdiction of the Washington, DC metropolitan region, and includes all recycle mixed paper, newspaper, cardboard (non-coated), aluminum beverage cans, glass bottles and jars, metal food cans, and plastic beverage containers

 

Recyclable Materials

All of the following materials can be recycled in your building:

  • Office Paper of all types and colors
  • Certain paper products
  • Cardboard
  • Glass (Arlington and Reston do not accept Glass)
  • Metal
  • Plastics #1-7 (Arlington does not accept #6)
  • Electronic waste recycling (periodic events)

 

Please contact your Property Management team with questions or refer to your jurisdiction's resources
for the latest guidance in current recycling practices in your building as practices do change.

Note: Jurisdictions require recycling inspections and may charge inspection fees for each tenant in a building. Fines will be levied if requirements aren’t met. Please reach out to the Property Management team for specifics

 
Building Resources

To increase recycling participation, your Property Management team can provide complementary:  

 

Supplemental Waste Diversion Programs

Please contact your Property Management team to inquire if the following programs are offered in your building: 

  • Composting (organic food waste)
  • Single serve coffee pods (e.g. K-Cups)
  • Ink and toner cartridges (most manufacturers provide free mail-back recycling programs)
